After developing a cult-like following for his original TAPCO gear of the 60's & 70's, audio guru Greg Mackie founded his namesake company in 1989, revolutionizing the compact mixer market with the original built-like-a-tank Mackie LM-1602. It was a huge success and basically reinvented the world of recording and live sound.
Next up Greg & Co. set sights on power amplifiers, then digital mixers, then active studio monitors, then sound reinforcement speakers, then...well, you get the picture.
